Time in reverse is still time. Emotion backwards is still felt. They came together without much prep but what came out felt whole, totally complete.

Neil Rankin on bass, Sean Dunal on drums, James Harris on keys, Chris Evans on guitar and Josh Reichmann singing his songs with intensity and grace.

Behold, Golden Gate of the Ecliptic, a meeting in rhythm that was unlikely. Somehow, a most resonant musical happening, one night in Toronto, ensued.

These four songs were initially written by Josh for various solo explorations. Cosmic in lyrical content, pulsing and funky in beat yet open and loose enough for a wide array of interpretation. The tunes were indeed reinterpreted by the adjoining musicians who found their usual groove and rhythmic cohesion easily. The songs flower with a jazz-like freedom into realms that straddle garage rock, the grittier end of funk and psychedelia but all the while hold steady to their assertive rhythmic pulse.

The tracks were recorded live off the floor with no ensuing overdubs, subjected to a concise mix by Louie Short through a vintage reel-to-reel tape deck and then mastered by Nik Kozub. What you hear is raw, energetic and more than the sum of its parts.
